Chill a Nick and Nora glass and add a dash of absinthe. Roll the absinthe around to coat the interior, then discard any excess.

Combine the rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Cherry Heering in a mixing glass.

Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir well until the mixture is thoroughly chilled.

Strain the cocktail into the prepared Nick and Nora glass.

Garnish with a brandied cherry, preferably Luxardo.
