Chill a martini glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside.

Combine the gin, dry vermouth, Bénédictine, Amer Picon, and a couple of dashes of orange bitters in a mixing glass.

Add ice to the mixing glass and stir until well-chilled.

Discard the ice water from the martini glass, then strain the cocktail mixture into the glass.

Garnish with a twist of lemon peel, expressing its oils over the drink before dropping it in.
