Chill a martini glass and rinse it with absinthe to coat the interior, then set it aside.

In a mixing glass, combine the overproof rye, fino sherry, Bénédictine, and a few dashes of Peychaud's Bitters.

Add ice to the mixing glass and stir until the mixture is well-chilled.

Strain the cocktail into the prepared absinthe-rinsed martini glass.

Serve straight up, without garnish, to highlight the complex flavors.
