Prepare an orange zest twist for garnish.

Stir the straight rye whiskey, Del Maguey Vida Clásico Mezcal, Lucano amaro, gentian liqueur, and mole bitters with ice until well chilled.

Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with ice, preferably using a large cube or a chunk of block ice.

Express the orange zest twist over the cocktail to release its oils, then use it as a garnish.
