Prepare the diluted maple syrup by shaking together 2 parts maple syrup and 1 part warm water. Use the listed 0.5 oz portion of this mixture.
Muddle the listed sage leaves firmly in a shaker for 30 seconds.
Add the bourbon, allspice dram, prepared diluted maple syrup and Meyer lemon juice, with the optional listed pinch of grated nutmeg-and-clove mix if desired.
Shake vigorously with ice for 20 seconds.
Fine strain up into a rocks glass.
Finish with a light dusting of the same spice mix and float one fresh sage leaf on top.
