Recipe notes
Balance the citrus and orange liqueur
This version puts 5 cl tequila alongside 2 cl lime juice and 2 cl orange liqueur. Measure the two smaller pours separately: the lime supplies the sharp citrus edge, while the orange liqueur brings sweetness and orange flavor. Triple sec in the instructions refers to the orange liqueur listed above.
Prepare the rim before shaking
Prepare the salt rim on the coupe before shaking, so the drink can be strained as soon as it is mixed. Shake the tequila, lime and liqueur with ice; the salt belongs on the glass. Strain into the prepared coupe and finish with a lime wedge or a cocktail cherry, as described in the instructions.
