Chill a cocktail coupe in preparation for serving.

Prepare a star anise for garnish.

In a mixing glass, combine the Del Maguey Vida Clásico Mezcal, peated single malt whisky, kummel liqueur, Lustau San Emilio Pedro Ximénez Sherry, and liquorice bitters.

Add ice to the mixing glass and stir the ingredients until well chilled.

Fine strain the mixture into the pre-chilled cocktail coupe.
