Chill a Martini glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside.

In a mixing glass, combine the rye, apple brandy, herbal liqueur, and sweet vermouth.

Add a dash of bitters to the mixture.

Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir until the mixture is well-chilled and properly diluted.

Empty the ice water from the Martini glass, and strain the cocktail into the glass.

Express the oils from a lemon peel over the drink and use it as a garnish.
