Muddle the basil leaves in the bottom of an Old Fashioned glass to release their aromatic essence.

Add the rye, ginger beer, and a few dashes of Peychaud's Bitters into the glass.

Stir the mixture thoroughly for at least thirty seconds to ensure the flavors are well combined.

Pour the concoction over a large ice cube to chill and enjoy.
