Chill a cocktail coupe in advance to ensure your drink stays perfectly cold.

Prepare a lemon zest twist for garnish, setting it aside until needed.

Combine the straight rye whiskey, Cynar or other carciofo amaro, Bénédictine D.O.M. liqueur, and your choice of amaro, such as Averna, in a mixing glass.

Add ice and stir the mixture thoroughly to chill and blend the flavors.

Fine strain the mixture into the pre-chilled cocktail coupe.
