Devil Smoked Margarita

Use 2:1 rich simple syrup for its listed portion.

Chill a cocktail coupe in advance.

Prepare a lime wedge for garnishing.

In a shaker, combine the mezcal, freshly squeezed lime juice, and rich sugar syrup. Add ice and shake vigorously.

Fine strain the mixture into the chilled coupe glass.

Gently float the claret wine on top of the cocktail.

Garnish with the lime wedge on the rim of the glass.
