Use 2:1 rich simple syrup for its listed portion.

Select and pre-chill an Double Old Fashioned Glass.

Prepare a garnish of either a lemon wheel or wedge, or use blackcurrants or blackberries when in season.

Shake all ingredients with ice until well chilled.

Strain the mixture into the glass filled with crushed ice.

Garnish with your choice of a lemon wheel or wedge, or with blackcurrants or blackberries.
