Metropole (Difford's version)

Select and pre-chill a cocktail coupe.

Prepare the garnish by twisting a strip of orange zest over the glass, then discarding it. Adorn the drink with a skewered Luxardo Maraschino cherry.

Stir the cognac, Strucchi Dry Vermouth, Strucchi Bianco Vermouth, gomme syrup, Peychaud's or other Creole-style bitters, orange bitters, and saline solution with ice until well-chilled.

Fine strain the mixture into the prepared coupe glass.
