Chill the cocktail coupe by filling it with ice water and setting it aside.

Combine the rye, dry vermouth, and Aperol in a mixing glass filled with ice.

Stir gently until the mixture is well-chilled and properly diluted.

Discard the ice water from the cocktail coupe and strain the mixture into it.

Garnish with an orange twist, expressing the oils over the surface before placing it in the drink.
