Select and pre-chill a cocktail coupe.

Combine the straight rye whiskey, Rainwater/Verdelho madeira wine, rich sugar syrup, and a fresh egg in a shaker.
Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously.
Strain the mixture back into the shaker, discarding the ice.
Dry shake the mixture to fully emulsify the egg.
Fine strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe glass.
Finish by dusting the top with freshly grated nutmeg.
