Rinse a Old Fashioned Glass with mezcal or Islay Scotch to impart a smoky aroma, then set the glass aside.

In a mixing glass, combine the cognac, rye, Pedro Ximénez sherry, and Cynar.

Add a couple of dashes of Bittermens Xocolatl Mole bitters.

Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir the mixture until well chilled.

Strain the cocktail into the prepared Old Fashioned Glass over fresh ice.

Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink and discard the peel.
