Chill a Old Fashioned Glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside.

In a mixing glass, combine rye, Cynar, Manzanilla sherry, Mirabelle eau-de-vie, and falernum.

Add a few dashes of Angostura Orange Bitters and absinthe.

Fill the mixing glass with ice, then stir the mixture until well-chilled and properly diluted.

Discard the ice water from the Old Fashioned Glass, then double strain the mixture into the chilled glass.

Express the oils from a fresh orange peel over the drink's surface, then serve immediately.
