Chill an Old Fashioned glass in advance to ensure it's well-prepared for serving.

Prepare a twist of orange zest and set it aside; you'll be flaming it for garnish later.

Combine the straight rye whiskey, Punt E Mes vermouth amaro, and your choice of amaro in a mixing glass.

Add ice to the mixing glass and stir the ingredients thoroughly to chill and blend.

Strain the mixture into the pre-chilled Old Fashioned glass filled with fresh ice, ideally a large cube or chunk of block ice.

Flame the prepared orange zest twist over the cocktail to release its oils, then use it as a garnish.
