Monstre Verte Cocktail

Use 2:1 rich simple syrup for its listed portion.

Select and pre-chill an Old Fashioned glass.

Prepare a garnish of a fresh basil leaf and set aside.

Pour the absinthe into the ice-filled glass, then top with chilled water. Set the glass aside.

In a separate shaker, shake the gin, Green Chartreuse, lime juice, sugar syrup, and basil leaves with ice.

Discard the contents of the Old Fashioned glass and refill it with fresh ice.

Fine strain the contents of the shaker into the absinthe-rinsed glass.

Garnish with the prepared basil leaf.
