Chill a Martini glass in advance by filling it with ice water or placing it in the freezer.

In a mixing glass, combine the rye, Campari, and sweet vermouth.

Add a dash of Peychaud's Bitters to the mixture.

Stir the ingredients with ice until well-chilled and properly diluted.

Rinse the chilled Martini glass with absinthe, swirling it to coat the inside, then discard any excess.

Strain the stirred cocktail into the prepared Martini glass.

Flame an orange peel over the drink, expressing the oils onto the surface.

Garnish with the flamed orange peel, placing it gently on top of the cocktail.
