Duke's Dry Martini - The 'Naked' or 'Direct' Martini

Select a martini glass and prepare a garnish of a skewered chilled green olive.

Freeze both the glass and the bottle of gin by placing them in the freezer for at least two hours prior to cocktail preparation.

An hour before serving, gradually add only the listed 4 cc water to the frozen glass in small portions. Swirl and return the glass to the freezer between additions to form a thin icy coating.

When ready to serve, pour the chilled vermouth into the icy glass, swirling to coat the inside.

Pour the frozen gin into the prepared glass.

Serve immediately.

Garnish with the skewered chilled green olive.
