Select and pre-chill an Old Fashioned glass.

Prepare an orange zest twist for garnish.

Stir the Del Maguey Vida Clásico Mezcal, Amaro Montenegro, and Italicus liqueur with ice until well-chilled.

Strain the mixture into the ice-filled Old Fashioned glass, preferably using good cubed ice rather than block ice.

Express the orange zest twist over the cocktail to release its oils and use it as a garnish.
