Prepare blueberry basil syrup: combine 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water and 0.5 cup muddled blueberries in a pan. Simmer gently for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly without bringing to a boil. Remove from heat, add one third cup fresh basil leaves, cool and filter. Shake all listed drink ingredients with one large 2-inch ice cube for 8 to 10 seconds, then double strain into a chilled coupe. Optionally finish with one small basil leaf.
