Chill a martini glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside.
In a cocktail shaker, combine the amaro, Aperol, bourbon, and freshly squeezed lime juice.
Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously until well chilled.
Discard the ice water from the martini glass.
Double strain the mixture into the chilled martini glass.
Serve immediately and enjoy the smokey twist on the Paper Plane.
