THE RECIPE
How to make Coquito with Salt, Cloves, Nutmeg. See ingredients and step-by-step instructions.
(Optional) Combine the water and star anise in a small pot. Gently boil for a few minutes, then allow it to cool completely. Remove the star anise from the water.
Blend all ingredients in a blender. If omitting the rum, consider adding a bit of water to balance the sweetness. Depending on the blender's capacity, this may need to be done in batches.
Transfer the mixture into old rum bottles, liquor bottles, or a sealed container. Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.
Garnish with ground cinnamon and cinnamon sticks, if desired. Serve in a fancy glass.
