Chill a martini glass in advance to ensure it is cold for serving.

Prepare a garnish by selecting a whole star anise.

Muddle the star anise in the base of a cocktail shaker to release its flavors.

Add Ketel One Vodka, black sambuca liqueur, aniseed liqueur, and chilled water, if not using wet ice, into the shaker.

Shake the mixture vigorously with ice to chill and blend the ingredients.

Fine strain the cocktail into the pre-chilled martini glass.

Float the prepared star anise garnish on the surface of the drink before serving.
