Use the listed portion of prepared spiced pineapple molasses syrup and 2:1 rich simple syrup. For the source syrup, toast 5 cardamom pods, 3 cloves and 2 crushed star anise, add pineapple cut for roasting, 7 oz sugar, 1/2 cup molasses and 3 oz water, cook 5 minutes, muddle and strain without blending. Shake all measured cocktail ingredients, including the Thai basil, with ice and strain into a chilled coupe.
