Select and pre-chill a cocktail coupe.

Prepare a lemon zest twist for garnish.

Shake the cognac, light white rum, freshly squeezed lemon juice, grenadine or pomegranate syrup, and optional chilled water with ice.

Fine strain the mixture into the pre-chilled coupe.
