Prepare espresso syrup using 2 parts espresso to 1 part water and 1 part turbinado sugar. Measure the listed 0.5 oz portion.
Combine the American whiskey, orange juice, walnut liqueur, cherry liqueur, espresso syrup, and egg yolk in a cocktail shaker.
Dry shake the mixture vigorously without ice to emulsify the egg yolk.
Add ice to the shaker and shake again to chill the mixture.
Strain the cocktail into a highball glass.
Top the drink with soda water to add effervescence.
Garnish with a twist of orange for a fragrant finish.
