Select and pre-chill an Old Fashioned glass.

Prepare a garnish by setting aside a walnut half.

Stir the blended Scotch whisky, Cynar or carciofo amaro, walnut liqueur, and saline solution or pinch of salt with ice until well-chilled.

Strain the mixture into the pre-chilled glass, ideally over a large cube or chunk of block ice.

Garnish with the walnut half, placing it on the rim or resting it on the ice.

Serve the strained cocktail over a large ice cube in the old fashioned glass.
