Layman's Terms

Rinse an Old Fashioned glass with Fernet Branca, ensuring the interior is well-coated, then place the glass in the cooler to chill.

In a mixing glass, combine Small's Gin, simple syrup, and a couple of dashes of Peychaud's Bitters with ice.

Stir the mixture thoroughly until it is well-chilled and properly diluted.

Remove the chilled Old Fashioned glass from the cooler and strain the contents of the mixing glass into it.

Garnish the cocktail with a wide lemon peel, expressing the oils over the surface before placing it in the glass.
