Chill a cocktail coupe by filling it with ice water and setting it aside.
Fill a shaker tin with ice cubes.
Pour in the mezcal and Ancho Reyes chile liqueur.
Add the agave syrup and freshly squeezed lime juice.
Shake vigorously until the shaker is frosty to the touch.
Empty the cocktail coupe of ice water.
Double strain the mixture into the chilled cocktail coupe.
