Black Fashioned

Use 2:1 rich simple syrup for its listed portion.

Select an Old Fashioned Glass and prepare an orange zest twist for garnish.

Retrieve the cacao and coffee spiced rum from the freezer and combine it in a frozen Old Fashioned Glass with the chilled sugar syrup, ground coffee, chilled water, and orange bitters. Stir well to integrate the ground coffee, preferably using Colombian coffee for its acidic notes and floral, fruit aftertaste.

Moisten a filter paper in a pour-over coffee dripper or a similar device and place it over the chilled Old Fashioned Glass. Pour the mixed ingredients through the filter and allow the cocktail to drip through patiently over a couple of minutes.

Express the orange zest twist over the cocktail and use it as a garnish.
